Who We Are

The Autism Society is the oldest and largest grassroots Autism organization, serving over half a million people per year nationwide. Founded in 1965, it provides toll-free phone support and a free online information and referral database with information about programs and services. The Autism Society’s nationwide network of affiliates is designed to provide information and support for families in their local area.

The Autism Society of Ohio (ASO) is the statewide affiliate of the Autism Society of America. ASO is committed to expanding Autism awareness and programming throughout Ohio. Its staff and volunteers are committed to creating connections and empowering everyone in the Autism community with resources. The ASO is the source of information on Autism policy and legislation to better understand the issues, increase Autism awareness, influence policy, and mobilize advocacy efforts.

Autism Society of Ohio is a source for information on policy and legislation – providing the infrastructure for the Autism Society affiliates and all affected by Autism throughout Ohio to better understand the issues, increase Autism awareness, influence policy, and mobilize advocacy efforts. Our past efforts have included work on The Ohio Communication Disability law, adding disabilities to Ohio’s Silver Alert System, and providing information about Autism to legislators.

Autism Society of Ohio is governed as a coalition of local Ohio affiliates

Each affiliate serves its territory by offering information and referrals, creating programming, advocating for change, and improving the quality of life for those living with autism in that region. These include: These include Central Ohio / Greater Akron / Dayton, Greater Cleveland /  Mahoning Valley /  and Northwest Ohio.
